Solano Strikers enjoy another successful season

FAIRFIELD — Maybe the third time will be a charm, but the second was still quite a ride.
Late last month the U-14 Solano Strikers became just the fifth team in approximately seven U-10 to U-19 divisions since 1999 to reach the Northern California Association Cup championship game in back-to-back seasons, falling again, this time 1-0 to the Fair Oaks Eagles.
As the first team from the Solano Soccer Club ever to reach an Association Cup title game and one of the last two teams standing from the 37 that started preliminary play, “they learned a lot about themselves as a team and as individuals throughout the entire experience,” Strikers coach Paul Damelio said. Former SSC standout Katie Knopp finds success at San Jose State
Knopp still looking for full season

FAIRFIELD — Maybe Katie Knopp will get to play a complete season her senior year. That’s one of her goals for 2010, anyway.
As it is, the former Solano Community College soccer star and junior college All-America selection had to sit out part of her 2009 season at San Jose State University. She also redshirted her second year at Solano with a broken collarbone, and sat out several matches last year after re-breaking it. [continue]

Matt Garcia Youth Center, Solano Soccer Club team up

FAIRFIELD — The smorgasbord of activities at the Matt Garcia Youth Center has one more offering: Soccer.
